Aspirating Smoke Detection System |
Installed for very early warning of fire |
Hastings Borough Council approached BeSure Security to Design, Supply, Install and Commission an Aspirating Smoke Detection System to provide "very early warning" fire protection for the Durbar Hall at Hastings Museum. Due to the Durbar Hall's unique display items, an aspirating system was specified by their insurance company, as the existing standard smoke detectors were not sensitive enough.
For this site, BeSure Security chose to use the VESDA® system by Xtralis due to their proven quality, reliability and ease of use.

System Installed
The required design / ASPIRE calculations were carried out by our expert team and the system was installed within 3 days. After a 14 day "auto-learn" period the existing smoke detectors were removed from the area, and the VESDA smoke detection system was interfaced into the existing fire alarm. The optimum settings were used to minimise the potential for false alarms, but to provide an early warning and rapid response to any potential fire condition.
VESDA ® by Xtralis, is a smoke detection system which continuously samples the air to provide the earliest possible warning of an impending fire hazard. These systems provide the critical time needed to investigate an alarm and initiate an appropriate response to prevent injury, property damage or business disruption.
The detectors themselves have multi-level warnings and a wide range of sensitivity that does not degrade or change over time, so even minute levels of smoke can be detected before a fire has time to escalate. We have installed a VESDA Laser Plus (VLP) Detector, which is the flagship of the VESDA range. Using unique detection principles, the VLP has an alarm sensitivity range of 0.005%–20% obscuration/m (0.0015%–6.25% obscuration/ft).

Client Testimonial |
"BeSure Security Systems were chosen to carry out the installation due to their expert knowledge in the fire detection field. The installation was carried out with minimal disruption, and the system has been installed to suit the Durbar Hall and its aesthetics.
We are very happy with the entire installation, and we would recommend them." |
