LOOKING TO UPGRADE YOUR FIRE SYSTEM?
"In many cases you will already have a fire alarm in place - if so, our team can survey the system and offer a range of updates
to bring your alarms and detection up to date."

Finding an appropriate fire system

With new technology being released each year, it can be a difficult task to determine which fire system is the most appropriate one to meet your individual requirements.

With over 25 years experience in the security industry, we have designed a helpful guide to explain what each of the systems involve, using our own extensive knowledge and experience.

Getting to know your fire alarm system
Whereas it is vital that our engineers know the ins and outs of each fire alarm system - it is also your job to understand how to utilise them year-by-year to keep fire risk at bay. Thankfully our team will happily walk you through what you need to know and offer support on regular maintenance visits.

Fire system upgrades - Is your alarm healthy?
Whilst many buildings may have fire detection measures in action already, the cabling associated with the alarm may be old, in disrepair or even faulty. We can survey any alarm on request to let you know if you're still being protected from fire efficiently.

Conventional Fire Systems
Conventional fire alarm systems involve single circuits which all of the devices are run on. All of the conventional fire systems use similar methods of transmitting signals between the fire detectors and control panels

During the operation of a fire device, there is only a small amount of information available, which states the zone that the fire has started in; however, the system will not be able to determine which section of the zone has the active detector.

Addressable Fire Systems
Addressable systems include some form of communication between each of the detectors and the control equipment. This allows the staff present to determine which detector is active during the event of a fire, giving them the opportunity to act quickly.

Alongside the system comes extremely short delays, ensuring that the delay times comply with the BS 5839-1 legislation. This gives the system delays between inputs and outputs, such as the operation of a call point and the sounding of an alarm, however the delay would not be noticeable to most people.

The principle difference between an addressable and conventional system is that the addressable system is able to pinpoint the exact location of the fire, whereas the conventional system can only give a rough idea of where the fire is.

The addressable system can also notify the user at the control panel by displaying a message on a screen, stating the room number and the floor that the fire is in (e.g. room 5, ground floor).
